. . are often a factor with many clients. Although incorrect breathing doesn’t necessarily lead to disease we are all on a number of spectrums (spectra?) and being at the healthy end of the scale is surely our aim and would be our choice when we realise we actually have a choice.
Worth having a read and noting how long you can remain with your lips closed and nose held after the out breath . . . ?
nb Mouth closed – no cheating !
Feeling panicky/ Need to gulp? Interesting; 30+ seconds should be possible. Yes really.

. . . is better for you than statins, say medical experts:
“. . . in the BMC Medicine Journal, consultant cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra and Professor Simon Capewell of Liverpool University argue that the cholesterol-busting drugs bring debilitating side effects while having little impact on health for most people”

Have just been re-reading this article from New Scientist & spotted this important part of our development – missing for many I fear:
“various constituents of breast milk, including oxytocin, support the development of neurons in the gut (Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, vol 55, p 1592). This might explain why premature babies who are not breastfed are at higher risk of developing diarrhoea and necrotising enterocolitis, in which portions of the bowel become inflamed and die”.

Stop the cop-out: “being good enough”. Get over the whining – explain to your children why they need to eat healthily. Stop caving in and step up to your responsibilities. Am I angry? You bet!
In the UK “There are now 2.5 million people suffering from Type 2 diabetes, 90 per cent of whom are overweight or obese” – This is what incipient diabetes looks like:
The ideal should be no/minimal added sugar. Until we stop thinking of processed foods as ‘added value’ and realise they’re making mega-bucks out of our stupidity it ain’t going to happen.

Do you remember your dreams? I remember many; some of them from my own childhood and see them as vital learning experiences.
This morning I woke with a vivid image of my son aged about 3, kneeling by a tree stump, playing with his toy cars. he had his back to me and I could see his bare feet. His socks lay discarded nearby.
“Aren’t your feet cold?” I asked.
“No.” He continued playing, resolutely ignoring me and completely engrossed in his world. It is a beautiful image and I can see it with complete technicolour clarity.
He didn’t need me fussing then and he still doesn’t – 20 years later !! I love his independence and his ability to look after himself. And I enjoy the moments of nostalgia too.

Half of all women aged 25 to 34 are overweight or obese.
Obesity is the biggest threat to women’s health and the health of future generations, warns England’s chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies.
“Obesity is endangering women’s health and that of their babies, the chief medical officer has warned in a report which aims to put to rest for ever the myth that pregnant women should eat for two.
Prof Sally Davies looks across the spectrum at women’s health, from the effects of violence and female genital mutilation (FGM) to eating disorders, cancer survival and the menopause, but she says there is one underlying major concern across the lifespan. Obesity will shorten women’s lives and there is a danger that their children will be stillborn or grow up with health problems themselves, such as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure.”

We now seem to have pretty conclusive evidence that unhappiness is not responsible for ill health and the opposite is probably true. If you’re chronically ill you’re more likely to be unhappy – and no wonder.
“Good news for the grumpy” declared Sir Richard Peto in revealing the results of the large-scale study he co-authored, published in the Lancet this week. After tracking a cohort of a million British women over a 10-year time-span, he and his team found that those who were unhappy or stressed were no more likely to succumb to ill-health or premature death than their cheerier counterparts.”
What we can often control however, is our health, and how well we cope with any conditions we have. The vast majority of illness that affects the western world is self-inflicted. Obviously not deliberately but often with reckless negligence and disregard of consequences. Smoking; drinking to excess; reliance on processed and nutritionally-minimal foods. Our lifestyles are slowly killing us or making the latter part of our years difficult and a burden. That is not a wise choice.
“Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better.” ― Jim Rohn

How hard would it be to make your diet 90-95% vegetable-based?
Impossible/Difficult/Tricky/Easy ?
“…a very high and alarming percentage of Americans eat hardly any vegetables whatsoever. According to the Wall Street Journal, in 2011, approximately 80% of Americans who ate meat rarely consumed vegetables at all.”
